Hello OAP & HGE School Families,
It feels like summer is here! Our students are absolutely loving the chance to be outside enjoying the sunshine during recess and gym. There’s something special about this time of year - energy, excitement, and a sense of accomplishment in the air.
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, I want to take a moment to express sincere gratitude to all who support our school community. Thank you to our amazing School Council for your ongoing input, fundraising efforts and bringing enriching opportunities to our schools. To PAL for taking the time to read with the students, and to our many parent volunteers who show up for field trips, hot lunch days, and classroom support. Your generosity, time, and partnership make a real difference in the lives of our students and staff.
Looking Back
Over the past few weeks, we’ve created important learning moments for:
- Mental Health - Our students and staff participated in Hat Day to raise awareness and show support for mental health. It was a fun and meaningful way to promote well-being in our schools. The CHAMP Team visited to build on this year's theme, “Unmasking Mental Health,” to remind students and staff that our emotions are okay to experience. Each student decorated a paper mask to show their feelings at that time.
Looking Ahead
- Field Trips: Teachers are organizing fun and educational end-of-year field trips. Please watch for notices coming home soon with details specific to your child’s class.
- Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs): Our Grade 6 students have started writing their PATs. We are proud of their efforts and appreciate your support at home as they complete these important assessments.
- Class Lists: Class placement information will be shared at the end of August. We take great care in creating balanced, supportive classrooms and appreciate your trust in the process.
Important Dates
- June 26 - Last Day of School for Students
- June 27 - Professional Development Day (No school for students)
As always, thank you for your continued support. We are grateful to partner with you in creating a safe, inclusive, and vibrant learning environment for all students. Let’s make the last few weeks of school memorable ones!
Warm regards,
Cheryl Gascoyne
